Bad As A Mother

Are you bad as a mother?

Feeling bored with your surroundings? If your home is missing some excitement, it might be time for an update. Many people think that updating your home is an enormous investment that takes quite a bit of cash. However, that simply isn’t true. You can easily update your home without spending a fortune. Check out my three easy ways to turn your space from blah to wow!

Paint Your Walls, Cabinets or Furniture:

Many people today are sick of their dark wood kitchen or bath cabinets. If you have good working cabinets, painting them is a no brainier! Painting your cabinets white would not only brighten the space, but also make the it feel larger.
Cabinets aren’t the only thing you can paint. If you are looking to update a room without spending a fortune, painting furniture is a great option. Don’t have anything around the house that you would want to paint? No problem. Start combing your local tag sales and tag sale sites. Grabbing an inexpensive (or even free) piece of furniture can be a great way to swap out what you already have. If you haven’t checked out your local sites, youย  might be surprised at what you may find.
Tired of your room? Why not give your walls a fresh coat of paint! With a little elbow grease and a few cans of paint you can give any room a great new look without breaking the bank. Be sure to take home lots of swatches before deciding on a color. If you are not confident painting on your own, hire a professional. It is definitely worth it and you will be happy with the outcome.

When redecorating, people often overlook the power of a well-chosen accessory. By the way, this is the fun part! Hit the road and go shopping! Do not be afraid to put a new or unusual item in your cart. You will not know if it will work until you get it home and into the space! Most reputable places will allow you to return items you don’t like, so just save your receipt. It really is that easy. If you don’t find exactly what your looking for, don’t get discouraged. It may take a few trips so be patient and enjoy it. Definitely don’t overthink it.
Accessories also include rugs and wall art. YES, wall art! I know what you are thinking, “I can’t hang anything in my home. I can’t make that kind of commitment!” Have you heard of Command Strips? It’s a great new invention that you can easily find in your local Target. It allows you to hang something without the full commitment. If you don’t like it, you can remove with ease and leave no holes.

Hardware, Lighting and Molding.

You probably pass these items in your home a million times on a daily basis and they always get overlooked.
Adding new hardware or updating door knobs and cabinet hardware can really give you a new look! It really is the same with lighting. If you look up, those light fixtures you have hanging might be ten years or older. Have you taken a look at some of the light fixtures they have today? They are beautiful and available in so many different styles and prices. Installing a new light fixture can really impact any room.
Molding is another overlooked detail. Replacing base molding and or adding new crown molding will make a great statement. This is something you should definitely consider if you are thinking of repainting.
Still not convinced? Remember that any of these updates will certainly add value to your home, without the price tag of an expensive renovation. Now that’s something everyone can get on board with!
