Bad As A Mother

Are you bad as a mother?

When I was offered the opportunity to try a complimentary anti-breakage shampoo and conditioner from Desert Essence I was super excited. Chemically processed hair+beach+sun=very dry and brittle hair. I was looking forward to taming these dry tresses and Desert Essence delivered. With a B Corps certification and natural ingredients, I was definitely on board with giving this brand a try.

What I used:

I started using the products exclusively for a week or so and I have really put them to the test. I tested the anti-breakage shampoo and conditioner along with the anti-breakage hair mask. With lots of time spent at the beach and pool, I was sure that my locks were in need of some TLC. Since my hair is also chemically treated, I was very interested in the results. After only a few days of using it, my hair looked smoother. Despite the humidity, my hair definitely had more volume. Since I have fine, thin hair, this was a welcome side-effect. I also used it on my daughter, even though she doesn’t have much breakage. Her hair is thicker than mine, so it appeared more shiny and smoother as well. Overall a great remedy for summer hair! I tried the treatment as well and felt that it definitely made a difference in the appearance of my hair. Although I only used it twice a week, each time seemed to undo the damage of the salt water and chlorine.

The Products:

One thing I noticed right away is that the products were not heavily fragranced. Both the conditioner and the shampoo have a delicate scent that is pleasant, but by no means overwhelming. The treatment also has a delicate scent, which is great if you have any sensitivity to fragrances. Anything I put on my hair has to smell great, so I did the sniff test before I even used it. The shampoo lathers really nicely and rinses out easily. My scalp can be dry at times and none of the products irritated it in any way. The conditioner is thick so you don’t need to use much of it. The products contain awesome ingredients like Jojoba and Coconut oil as well as Biotin. The treatment didn’t feel too greasy, especially on my fine hair. It didn’t weigh it down or make it greasy even after I left it on overnight.

The Company

One of the things that I really respected about this company is its proven track record for harvesting their natural ingredients responsibly. That has really become important to me, as our resources are finite! They are also a Certified B Corporation which means that they are required to meet the highest standards of environmental performance and accountability. As a beauty junkie, it is really nice to see that companies like this can create great products that are also ecologically responsible. This is something that would encourage me to purchase it again. I also felt confident using it on my daughter because of the natural ingredients with no extra junk. Overall, I really liked the way my hair looked after using the products and would definitely recommend. If you care about sustainable products and natural ingredients, this is a great brand to consider!
